MONOPOL AG was established in 1947 by Manfred Schlessinger and has been managed in the second generation by his son, Lionel Schlessinger, since 1991.

Manfred Schlessinger had spotted a gap in the market and, with raw products from his Dutch export trade partner at the time – from whom the present company name is derived – he began to be successful in the surface treatment initially of wood substrates, and later aluminium products.

As an independent family business, MONOPOL Colors concentrates on the development and marketing of industrial paints and varnishes, as well as corrosion protection. Complete, durable and environmentally acceptable solutions for metallic substrates and plastics are offered from the company's registered office in Fislisbach (Aargau) with some 75 employees.
