Farbe ist mehr als nur ein visueller Reiz \u2013 sie ist Identit\u00e4t, Orientierung und Emotion. Als der international renommierte Architekt Luis Vidal den Zuschlag f\u00fcr das neue Terminal E des Boston Logan International Airports erhielt, stand er vor einer gewaltigen Herausforderung: Wie f\u00e4ngt man die Seele einer historischen und zugleich zukunftsgewandten Metropole in einem Geb\u00e4ude ein? Die Antwort fand er in der Schweiz, im Color Lab von Monopol Colors.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Boston ist eine Stadt der Kontraste. Sie tr\u00e4gt ein tiefes historisches Erbe in sich und ist gleichzeitig ein globales Kraftzentrum f\u00fcr Technologie und Bildung. Um diese Dualit\u00e4t architektonisch zu verbinden, verfolgte das Architekturb\u00fcro\u00a0luis vidal + architects<\/em>\u00a0eine klare Vision: Das neue Terminal E durfte kein isolierter Fremdk\u00f6rper sein, sondern musste von innen heraus aus der Stadt selbst wachsen.<\/p>\n

Die Suche nach der \u00abchromatischen Seele\u00bb Bostons<\/strong><\/p>\n

Luis Vidals Beziehung zu Boston reicht bis ins Jahr 2012 zur\u00fcck. W\u00e4hrend seiner vielen Aufenthalte studierte er den unverwechselbaren Charakter der Stadt. Besonders faszinierte ihn die einzigartige Qualit\u00e4t des Lichts \u2013 wie es die Umgebung formt, Farben d\u00e4mpft, ver\u00e4ndert und die Stadt lebendig macht. Hinzu kam die unverkennbare architektonische DNA: \u00abSo viel von Boston ist in Rot eingebettet\u00bb, erkannte Vidal beim Blick auf die ikonischen Backsteinfassaden der Stadt.<\/p>\n

Um diese \u00abchromatische Seele\u00bb Bostons einzufangen und auf das gewaltige, schwungvolle Dach des neuen Terminals zu \u00fcbertragen, brauchte es mehr als nur einen Standardfarbton. Es brauchte eine Farbe, die atmet, sich wandelt und eine Geschichte erz\u00e4hlt. F\u00fcr diese anspruchsvolle Aufgabe reiste Luis Vidal in die Schweiz \u2013 direkt in das Color Lab von Monopol Colors.<\/p>\n

Ein aussergew\u00f6hnlicher kreativer Dialog im Color Lab<\/strong><\/p>\n

Als Luis Vidal unser Labor betrat, brachte er Skizzen des Geb\u00e4udedesigns und eine klare, aber hochkomplexe Vorstellung mit: Er suchte ein ikonisches Rot, das sich tief mit der Identit\u00e4t Bostons verbindet. Was dann folgte, war ein intensiver und aussergew\u00f6hnlicher kreativer Dialog zwischen dem innovativen Architekten und unseren Farbexperten.<\/p>\n

Die Herausforderung war ebenso ehrgeizig wie das Geb\u00e4ude selbst. Das Terminal sollte die Reisenden nicht \u00fcberw\u00e4ltigen, sondern sie durch eine intuitive Architektur \u2013 gepr\u00e4gt von Kompression und Dekompression des Raumes \u2013 leiten. Die Farbe des Daches musste diese Dynamik unterst\u00fctzen.<\/p>\n

\u00dcber mehrere Tage hinweg wurde die Farbe im Labor von Luis Vidal immer wieder neu designt, angemischt und aufgetragen, bis jedes Detail stimmte.<\/p>\n

Der magische Moment des Projekts gipfelte in Luis Vidals Reaktion, als er den finalen Farbabstrich betrachtete: \u00abDas ist genau die Farbe, nach der ich gesucht habe.\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n

Ein lebendiges Wahrzeichen f\u00fcr die Ewigkeit<\/strong><\/p>\n

Heute ist\u00a0\u00abBoston Red\u00bb<\/strong> ein St\u00fcck eingefangene Stadtgeschichte, geboren im Monopol Color Lab und f\u00fcr Luis Vidal gesch\u00fctzt. Das neue Terminal E mit seinem weithin sichtbaren, roten Dach ist mittlerweile zu einem dynamischen und lebendigen Wahrzeichen Bostons geworden. Es reflektiert den Geist des Augenblicks und den Rhythmus der Natur. Es ist das Erste, was Reisende aus der Luft sehen, wenn sie in Boston ankommen, und das Letzte, wenn sie die Stadt wieder verlassen.<\/p>\n
