Color as identity
At Monopol Colors we see color not merely as a design element but as a force that shapes identity. The Hoost project in Knokke-Heist (Belgium) is a prime example of how architecture and colour together can create new living environments. Behind the colourful façades a public meeting place unfolds, bringing together a library, a games room, a café, offices, and meeting and multipurpose rooms. A place that not only provides housing, but – above all – creates space for life.
«The concept of the project is to resemble a ‘stacked city’: looking around the city you’ll see a broad range of houses in different colors and materials. By stacking layers of them on top of each other you end up with a ‘vertical city’ that combines all forms and sizes. The four colors are used to resemble the differences in the streets of the city», says Jonas Vanhauter, Project Manager at CAAAP.
Tailored solutions for special requirements
The location directly on the Belgian North Sea coast posed specific challenges for the coating systems. Salt-laden air, humidity and strong winds demand maximum durability. Our answer: a specially developed 3-layer system with primer, base coat and a highly resistant clear coat. That gives not only protection but lasting brilliance.
A palette that tells stories
From sample selection in 2019 through delivery in 2024/2025 we accompanied the project closely. In total roughly 15,000 m² of façade were coated. The colours used give Hoost its unmistakable identity – fresh, dynamic and welcoming:
- Light green (NCS S 1060-G50Y)
- Yellow (NCS S 0560-G90Y)
- Orange (NCS S 1070-Y40R)
- Blue (NCS S 5030-R70B)
With a final gloss of 30 GE the surface looks modern and elegant and integrates harmoniously into the architectural concept.
Partnership: the key to success
International projects like Hoost come to life only through close collaboration with renowned partners such as CAAAP Belgium (project developer), Artes Depret Belgium (general contractor), Jakob + MacFarlane (architects), Euramax Architectural Products (coating applicator) and Alpolic Mitsubishi Chemical Group (aluminium composite panels). Together we set a strong example of quality and innovation.
Monopol Colors – color that adds value
For us, Hoost is more than a reference project. It exemplifies how, at Monopol Colors, we help shape places that bring people together through precise technology, sustainable systems and tailor-made color concepts. Places that do more than simply exist – they inspire.
